Eric Baijal was admitted as a solicitor in 2005. Member of the Tribunal since July 2024. He leads BBM Solicitors, a law firm with offices in Wick and Edinburgh. Eric is a commercial litigator and is accredited as a specialist in insolvency law by the law society of Scotland. As from 1 December 2024, he is a legal member for the Mental Health Tribunal for Scotland.
Member of the Tribunal since January 2024. She has a PhD in palaeoichthyology and an LLM in medical law. Together with her scientific background, she has public service experience working for a local authority and a range of NHS Trusts across the North East and Yorkshire, covering learning disabilities, community and mental health and ambulance services.
Angela served as a trustee of Action against Medical Accidents (AvMA) from 2012 – 2021 including six years as Treasurer and chair of the Finance and Investment Committee. She is currently a Lay Panel Member for the Health and Care Professions Council, Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, and the Taxation Disciplinary Board and a lay adjudicator for Social Work England. She is a lay chair for the UK Council for Psychotherapy, a Revalidation Reviewer for the General Pharmaceutical Council and a CPD Reviewer for the Architects Registration Board. Angela has completed her terms of service as a lay panellist for the Teaching Regulation Agency, the Scottish Social Services Council and the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries. She is also a lay school appeals panellist for Newcastle and does occasional work for the College of Policing as an external assessor for senior appointments.
